Ram Sita Painting is an original Kangra style painting depicting Ramayana, hand-painted by Artshaili artists in stone colours with real gold, 10.3×13.8 cm. It is a genuine handmade artwork, not a print, so every brushstroke is unique and small variations from the photos are natural.

The meaning of Ramayana in Indian art

Scenes from the Ramayana, the epic of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana, have been painted across India for centuries. They celebrate duty, devotion and the victory of good over evil, from Rama’s exile in the forest to his return to Ayodhya.

About the Kangra style

Kangra painting is the most lyrical school of Pahari (hill) painting from Himachal Pradesh, which flowered in the late 18th century under Raja Sansar Chand. It is loved for cool, soft colours, flowing lines, graceful slender figures and landscapes of rivers, flowering trees and monsoon clouds. Favourite themes are Radha and Krishna, the Gita Govinda and heroines in love. Read our guide to Pahari paintings.
