Radha Krishna Basholi Style by Master Artist – Hand painted Miniature Art

Radha Krishna Basholi Style by Master Artist is an original Basohli style painting depicting Radha and Krishna, hand-painted by Artshaili artists in stone colours with real gold, 6×8.8 in. It is a genuine handmade artwork, not a print, so every brushstroke is unique and small variations from the photos are natural.

The meaning of Radha and Krishna in Indian art

Radha and Krishna are the most beloved couple in Indian art and poetry. Their love stands for the soul’s longing for the divine, and painters show it through scenes of Krishna playing his flute, the two meeting in a flowering grove, or dancing the Raas Leela with the gopis under the moon. Krishna is painted blue, the colour of the monsoon sky and the infinite, and often wears a peacock feather in his crown.

About the Basohli style

Basohli, named after a town in the Jammu hills, is one of the earliest and boldest Pahari schools, from the late 17th century. Look for strong primary colours, flat red or yellow backgrounds, large intense eyes and jewellery that once sparkled with beetle-wing fragments. Its favourite subjects are Radha and Krishna and scenes of devotion. Read our guide to Pahari paintings.
